If you're up to connect with every version of our very own adobo, try visiting Adobo Connection. Just one ride from StarMall Mandaluyong going to Kalentong, you'll reach the place. A block after Cherry Foodarama and just across Goldilocks. Address: G/F Shaw 500 Building, Shaw Blvd. Mandaluyong City, Ortigas
I arrived at Adobo Connection and met its owners. They were such lovely people. The dine in started last November 2010 and is continually growing. In fact this summer of 2012, they already had plans of putting up a couple of branches again.
The Place
The ambiance of Adobo Connection can be compared to a home where. You'd remember how your Nanay would call out and say, "Kakain na". Then you'd put down your toys and hurriedly go to your favorite seat as your Nanay sets your plate.
The Food
It took me years to perfect cooking my adobo. If I didn't attend this event, I'd never known that there are a hundred version of Adobo that Philippines has to offer. And it can be found in one resto-Adobo Connection.
Kuya's Fried Mixed Adobo
The sauted garlic toppings really gave that sweet aroma. The chicken and meat are fried to perfection. Very tender and juicy inside. You can still taste the adobo up to the last bite. It made me want to make another order. :D Price: P119
Adobo Flakes
I really don't know what's it called at first until I tasted it. The texture can be compared to your ordinary "latik"- the fried shredded coconut toppings on the suman. It was pork adobo shredded into tiny bits then fried. I so love the crispiness of the dish. My mind was like a computer thinking how am I gonna do this at home. The sunny side up egg is a good partner. Price: P99
Modern Nutty Pork Adobo
If you're into something new, try this one out. An invented dish that has Italian herbs, tarragon, basil, spices, paprika and cashew. Price: 119
Chicken Adobo sa Gata
This spicy version of Adobo is very appealing, well, at least for me and for those who love "gata" and spices. I've tasted other adobo sa gata but this one's different. To be honest, some really had that "nakakaumay" feeling after you get a bite or two, but at Adobo Connection, you'll just crave for more. Price: P109
Gising-Gising
If you've already eaten Bicol Express, then you'll definitely enjoy this. Chopped baguio beans cooked in coconut milk "gata" with pork and chili. Now that's sizzling hot! Price: P89
Fish & Tofu Adobo
Oh! This is very exciting! If there's one food I can eat for a whole day..or for a week, it's tofu! With cream dory chunks and sauce, the deliciousness finally landed. Price: P149
Adobong Pusit
Since Lenten season is approaching, this is good for those who are not allowed to eat meat. The squid is perfectly cooked. It doesn't give that rubber effect when you bite it. Price: P129
Beef Kare-Kare
Actually, Kare-kare is not included in the list of my favorite foods but tasting. But I believe that many Filipinos really dig this dish. Sided with bagoong, I bet you'll exclaim, "extra rice, please!" Price: P189
Poqui-Poqui
Have you ever tried the "Tortang Talong"? Yes. It's like this. Only with tomato and onion rings. I don't know why it tastes sweet. Maybe because of the tomatoes..hmmm.. Price: P89
Pork Adobo Rice
Topped with egg and adobo flakes, I would recommend this with Kuya's Fried Mixed Adobo. Best for almusal and hot coffee. Oh my! I'm getting hungry..hihihi. Price:P49
Sizzling Pork Binagoongan
Not your ordinary binagoongan. This well-presented dish is very tasty. The pork meat is tender, the bagoong isn't too salty, the sweetness of the eggplant neutralized the taste of the whole plate. Price: P169
Dessert
Leche Flan
This P39 flan took all our "busog" away-in a good way. It balanced all the oils from the food we've taken.
Flan Turon
At a very affordable price of P29, you'll want this whole turon for yourself. The mouth-watering sweetness of custard and the crispiness matched with vanilla ice cream will really tickle your taste buds.
Good thing Adobo Connection has a branch here in SM Makati. I'll certainly make a visit one of these days.
