Christmas has just passed. Now, everyone's busy for the last part of the December party-the Media Noche. In preparation for the coming year, the New Year's Eve party is the one night event worth waiting for.   Firecrackers, children's games, binge eating-what else to expect but series of merriment and fun-filled activities. For people in charge of the kitchen, here are some food ideas for the Media Noche you can set up:

biko1

Biko. This sticky rice cake topped with latik (fried coconut milk curd) is a traditional Filipino food dessert. Made from rice, sugar, coconut milk, butter, flour and eggs, this simple delicacy has been one of the favorite kakanin servings in the country

Pancit Bihon. Instead of going for spaghetti, (which, I bet you have already served last Christmas) why not switch to the old Pancit Bihon? For starters, locals believe that pancit can bring long life. So why not start the year with that positive thinking served with a platter of delicious, lengthy and rich bihon.

Round-Fruits

Lastly, finish off your meal with round fruits. Chico, apple, melon, grapes, oranges, etc. are believed to bring a prosperous new year. So why not include a basketfull on your table.

For Biko and Pancit Bihon recipes, there are many websites where you can download the step-by-step preparation online together with their ingredients. Just be sure you have antispyware to protect your computer from viruses.
