To be honest, I am not a fan of halo-halo, ice cream, and all icy things. It's not the taste though, maybe because of my previous halo-halo experience...

If it wasn't for my plate mate and hubby of two years, I wouldn't even order a halo-halo that's worth over P50. LOL! Call me cheap but I was just too disappointed with my dessert experience with Chowking where my big cup was filled with 97% ice, 1% milk and 2% of their special halo halo ingredients which are gulaman, 4 pcs of tapioca pearls, 4 pcs of beans, a sprinkle of pinipig topped with a slice of leche flan and ube ice cream.
Yesterday, parched and hungry after our ride outdoors trying to look for a shop where we can buy an installment motorcycle, we headed to SM City in Cebu.
My husband held my hand and walked me towards a store called Ice Castle. I was not really familiar with the place and thought maybe it's only found in Cebu.
We went inside where a girl handed us the menu while ushering us to this seat with apple green table. I told Reil I don't want to eat and will just share with his halo-halo so he ordered only a cup of their special halo-halo which costs P75.

After a few minutes, the store service crew arrived with this HUGE bowl of Ice Castle halo-halo. I couldn't help myself and exclaimed to my husband, with a shocked face, "Ang laki!" (It's big!)
Amazed by the big serving and overflowing ingredients, I took a spoon. (Oh, by the way, I really appreciate them giving us 2 spoons even if we only have one order. Some restos don't do that).

Since the chocolate ice cream caught my eye (because I love chocolates), my spoon instantly scooped a part of it where it quickly melted inside my almost-dry mouth. Next is the sweet corn which is very rich in flavor. There's also the red and green gulaman, slices of macapuno, Im not sure if it's pinipig but I think it's cereal, macapuno, ube, and leche flan topped with milk. But I sure did taste something that isn't sugary but it's sweet - sweetened banana, potato, or some fruit. I didn't notice - but it sure made the whole dessert flavorful.
I was too overwhelmed and happy with this treat that I realized we were eating all the ingredients without mixing it together. LOL!
Reil and I were enjoying the cold dessert when I noticed my plate mate stopped and leaned back to his seat. I asked him what's the matter, thinking he's done. He said, "nagkakauntugan na tayo" ahhahahah! Oh my! I never thought I'd enjoy this halo-halo! We should've ordered two!
Ask if I'd recommend this store to my friends, I would! I think it's very affordable and sulit!
